I’m looking for participates to help with a photo essay project. As per the title the project is to explore Denman Culture through photographs. As I’ve seen the bumper stickers with the caption ‘Keep Denman Weird’ I would like to capture what that means.
People often get nervous when it comes to being photographed. Probably due to seeing photographs obsessed with ultra beauty or some social horror. I’m attempting to get a candid representation of Denman… residents and what it is like to live on Denman. Think of a spread in LIFE for those that remember that publication.
What I hope to cover is events (including ‘behind the Scenes’), Daily Life (and relationships) and I’m hoping to include as much of the Human side as possible… from Charity/social groups.
I don’t see Denman as Formal so the photos will be candid shots; not planning on any studio type shots.
A participant will have access to images related to themselves and the images will be available for use in charitable efforts such as the Calendar. The final product may be a show at the Denman Island Gallery and possibly presented online.
I welcome feedback and suggestion, but what I really need are people willing to be photographed in some aspect of there life. You can email me at [email protected].
Many Thanks,
Robert Anglos
The photos were also used for the grant proof of event.
This is an example of the candid nature of the photographs I take. I tend toward a documentary take (think Nan Goldin who would not move a beer bottle that was a distraction).Â
